I cried myself to sleep last night, I just kept asking "why?" Why it was your time to go, Why you couldn't stay, Why I didn't get to say goodbye. "Why?" seemed to be all I could say. Suddenly I realized, There's nothing I can do, So I took a moment, And made a promise to you. I'll never forget your face, And always say your name. Guilt. The only way to word it. I stared at it, With the dust and grim Eating away at the varnish. I struck a key, Sadly out of tune. No doubt if the lid was lifted The wires would be rust. This once grand piece, That fueled the fire Of my passion, Now sat, Forgotten, abandoned. A bittersweet smile Appeared on my face. Would it forgive? Three long weeks, Of tuning, sanding, And varnish. Now in his new home, Across the country. With a new, glossy coat, Yet, I can not replace the dingy keys, My guilt is lifted. An old rhythm starts, Gentle, brave Gentle, brave, And the passion, Is reborn.

Lonely, covered in dust, Forgotten for ages, Out of tune, But it remembers. Gentle strokes, Soft taps Filled with love. Every day, At half-past noon She would play. Starting gently Ending bravely. She spent hours With her dear friend, Shared her heart Fanned the passion. Now it sits, Abandoned. Forgotten, But it does not forget.
